OUR STORY BEGINS

What a Journey

With heartfelt gratitude to our founders, we reflect on our journey since Erie County Community Foundation's beginning in 1995.

Our Impact

In 1995, the creation of a community foundation to serve the needs of the Erie County, Ohio area became a prime concern of philanthropists and charitably inclined organizations throughout the county. They wanted to create a local, public foundation to make charitable giving more accessible and productive for both donors and the community. Through tireless efforts of several local philanthropists, 11 area trust companies and community partners created Sandusky/Erie County Community Foundation, now Erie County Community Foundation, as a 501(c)(3) public charity to address charitable and philanthropic needs throughout Erie County, Ohio.

Since our inception, we've seen our assets soar from $1.8 million to an incredible $40.7 million in 2023

This growth has allowed us to give back over $23 million to nonprofits, funding projects, programs, scholarships, and services.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our donors, the commitment of our Board of Directors, and the tireless efforts of our Executive Director and staff. As we continue our mission to enhance the quality of life in Erie County, Ohio, we remain deeply grateful for the trust and support bestowed upon us.
